We, the staff in Baby/Delivery, want parents and newborn babies to receive the best possible care with a personal touch.

The Baby and Delivery units are located on one level and are connected in the shape of an H. The Delivery unit is in the middle and the maternity ward is attached to one side of the Baby unit.

Breastfeeding friendly hospital

In accordance with UNICEF's and WHO's criteria "Ten steps to successful breastfeeding", the Baby/Delivery unit in Växjö has been certified as a breastfeeding friendly hospital. According to the Swedish National Institute of Public Health, Kronoberg county is the first in the country to be certified as a breastfeeding friendly care provider.

Research and development

From the start of next year all information about deliveries will be stored in a unique statistics program for use in future research. Read more on the page about Research and development. There is also a feature about a study into oxytocin. /2002-03-01
